- Ensure for the implementation of rangelands and forestry related policies, programs and development projects 

- Preparing and updating the state of the natural resources review on a regular basis 

- Ensuring that the resources are efficiently managed and are effectively and optimally utilized

- Promote and regulate the sustainable and efficient production and marketing of rangelands and forest products;

- Formulate policies, legislations, standards, and plans for the development of Puntland Environmental police

- Establish and manage an effective natural resources management and sustainably utilization of resources

- Develop and implement environmental management and development strategy for Puntland

- Promote community-based rangelands and forestry conservation, management and utilization to ensure sustainable forestry production

- Collect rangelands and forestry production data and their socio-economic impact on incomes and well-being

- Provide technical assistance and training to community-based organisations and local
governments to build their capacity to assume their responsibilities for rangelands and forestry matters.
